    wagamama

I have now visited one of these establishments for the second time & once again cannot work out why they are so popular?
I can't seem to find a dish that I couldn't do as well if not better, and knock it up in 10 minutes

    Some people don't like cooking.

I've never been to one, or Nandos.

No. Including prep you could not knock it up in 10 minutes.

In my experience, noodles are nicer to eat out because the amount of prep required in terms of chopping vegetables, meat, etc is not justified by the end result. Best pay someone else to do it for you.

I have always found them to be very pleasant.

Bit of Cha Han, Ramen, Duck Goyza, Squid.

I do not like the way the staff scribble some **** on the paper matt thing, it serves no purpose and is silly.

Whether a decent home cook could do a better job or not is irrelevant, the entire essence of these places is having some other chap do it all for you.

exactly i agree sw plus buying fresh ingredients isball ache to use once..i like all you mentioned

Me too, actually. Although I hate having to sit next to randoms on benches.

They've done very well to turn what is essentially a competent, bog-standard noodle shop into a massive chain of restaurants, really. Although a cynic would suggest that - as with Yo Sushi! - they have largely achieved this success by removing all the scary Asian elements and staffing it almost entirely with non-Asian people.

is it cool not to have been to these places then ?

i didnt realise that its hip to say you havent been..they do a job and chicken , chips, macho peas and etra hot nanados sauce and a beer is an ok meal after shopping or something..its not a destination meal but does ajob..no point in snobbing it over them imo

some have benches facing out a window so you can tuck into wall end

or ill always go for wallend..hence avoiding randoms..plus also pile up lots of bags and coats on benches...and give the waitress stink eye if she approaches with anone with babies.. though ive noticed waga is good as its obviously part of training ..they keep all babies and families at one end then normal people at other so avoiding shreeking stinking babies where possible
