I'm going to watch 'Far From The Madding Crowd' tonight.

Are there any barenaked ladies therein?

  2. #2

No. There's Terence Stamp with a sword. though.

It really is time that they stopped inflicting Thomas Hardy on people. Miserable old cund.

  3. #3

Mostly gay, have you forgotten that "Kiss me Hardy" thing?

  4. #4

I prefer Terence Stamp's veg crisps tbh.

  5. #5

Actually, I am a sucker for those. Although their appearance has led to me occasionally being

disappointed as I make a beeline for what appears to be a bowl of them only for it to turn out to be pot pourri.

The effect the beetroot ones have on your droppings is quite alarming though at least the first time

I had to read Trumpet Major at school. I've hated Hardy ever since,

and was left with a strong impression of "if that's considered great literature then great literature is ****".

  8. #8

Borscht can have a similar effect.

Nod Nobody should inflict 19th Century English novelists on young people.

They're bloody awful when compared to their Russian and French contemporaries.

  10. #10

As a fan of Hardy, Dickens and Collins, I can't agree.

Russians go on so, don't you find?

Mind you, I am re-reading some favourite modern Russian stuff at present; Boris Akhunin's Erast Fandorin series. Lovely stuff.
