Of course, the sad truth is that, while Chelsea's defeat is very pleasing, last night's game was

still just another contest between the playthings of energy billionaires. PSG are quite as loathsome in their way as Chelsea or City.

Ho-hum. Such is the new football.

    Hark at the football socialist

with your upbeat excitement last night and downbeat realism this morning..I suspect alcohol was

    involved last night ?

Quite. It just goes to show how loathsome Chelsea and Mourinho are, though, that they made

the whole world unite behind PSG.

The thing that got me, apart from the love for the plucky underdog that is PSG, was...

...what sort of magic hold do Chelsea have over officials? I mean, if anything PSG are the richer club, are they not bunging the right people or something?

It was this mans protest that changed things.

It's not really socialism to find the artificial buoying up of certain previously unremarkable teams

rather false and unsatisfactory in terms of the history of the game, is it? It's like watching a beauty contest where all the leading contestants have had radical plastic surgery to make them look that way: interesting in its way, but ultimately false and no real indicator of anything beyond the skill of the surgeons.

The ownership of football clubs's is of no interest to me.

PSG are a lovely team to watch though, some fantastic footballers like Verrati, Pastore, Matuidi, Motta and a sprinkling of je ne sais quoi magic up top with Zlatan.

    Chelsea have Fabregas and Terry.

Chelsea didn't appear to want to win the match, the French did.

That's a bit like saying you have no interest in the differences between clubs.

Which prompts the question: what on earth are you interested in, then? The football? f**k that.

What upbeat excitement? I simply expressed my loathing for Fabregas.

I had about half a bottle of wine. A very modest evening.
