Can I briefly recommend 'Kingsman - the secret service' ?

    Very silly, but huge fun.

    Yes, I quite fancy that.

Mark Kermode has his knickers in a twist about some dodgy sexist gag at the end, but I couldn't really give a flying one, tbh.

Hmm, I saw a movie with Colin Firth the other day and I'm not sure I'll ever feel the same way about

    him again.

    Witch won?

I'm listening to Deighton's Game, Set and Match trilogy at the moment.

It's odd how clearly he's just copying Le Carre and dumbing everything down 20 per cent.

    Still enjoyable, though.

If I told you it would sort of be a spoiler. ******SPOILER******

    Before I Go To Sleep.

There is a case to say that Le Carre overcomplicates everything and imbues things with significance

they don't actually have by 20 per cent, though, isn't there?

Let's face it: you could have hacked back Tinker Tailor quite easily and not lost any of the narrative thrust.

Ah, yes. It's a psychological thriller, isn't it?

I must admit I haven't really fancied it.

  9. #9

Oh yes, but apart from the plot, the prose and the dialogue is a bit remedial.

I like the way Le Carre does dialogue in particular tbh.

It's alright. Better than stabbing yourself repeatedly in the scrotum with a fork.

    Fractionally.
