I got to agree with Ian Wright on something.....

Been a bit busy at work so haven't had a chance to mention this but I thought his point about THE PLAYERS lacking character was quite on the ball.

His point was that if Moruinho had made the comments about Arsene being a specialist in failure when the likes of Parlour, Vieira, Bergkamp, Pires, Freddy, Ashley, Theirry etc etc were about then there was no way we coming away from Stamford Bridge without a result.

    That's 100% true...those guys were a different breed.

I've got no idea what the current bunch are about...maybe they are too young or too pampered like Ozil to care. Maybe theres a completely different culture now,

    There's like no passion...very disheartening.

But the odd thing is he is trying to build a team around a core

of British players & bringing players through. Perhaps those days are long gone. I think even Fergie would struggle with the new breed of player.

At first glance I'd be inclined to agree with you. Given a moment for reflection,

I remember well how we surrendered on many occasions in 04-05, particularly against Chelsea at home, when many of the players you mention were in the side.

The fact is that margins are fine. The players of 02-05 weren't superheroes, they were flawed and sometimes prone to failure, just as the present crop are not lily-livered useless losers.

    Fine margins.

    Losing away to Bolton. Frown

Indeed, the start of the 'Arsenal don't like it up 'em' theory.

Which came about because those very players were bullied by Big Fat Sam's orcs.

    absolutely spot on

there is no fight in the players. Wenger has in last few years scoffed at the concept of the onfield captain being of much relevance because everyone can be a leader. The truth is that at arsenal there are no leaders anymore. No-one to take the team by the scruff of the neck and organise them. All 3 goals on saturday were a shambles...not for the first time. After the first or second one there was no-one to galvanise and organise the team. We just carried on playing the same way and making the same mistakes.

Simple difference is that those players read and understood the game better and we more experienced

Our current crop are generally younger (with a few expections) and aren't understanding their roles as quickly as they might under a manager who would drill them in a more dogmatic approach, so are making more mistakes.
