I think that at Dunkirk the heroic aspect was the rescue rather than the retreat.

Never forget - Sp*rs are the gift that keep on giving.

Probably meant in the same way people say Dunkirk was 'heroic'.

I never quite got that. It was a retreat, and yet is used as a symbol

"Brave, brave Sir Robin. Sir Robin ran away".

I rather think that we've cornered the market in heroic failures in Europe over the last four years.

Criticise him all you want but even you have to give him credit for being 100% correct on Adebayor
