He seems intelligent and well-informed on topics but somehow often manages to side with the more, how should we say.., 'insane' members of the Republican party.
Politics seems absurdly partisan in America; even more so than over here.

I can sort of understand why he acts with such defiance. Feeling persecuted often makes people even more stubborn, it certainly does with me anyway, and perhaps he feels like he is on here.
