Absolutely destroyed the field...pummelled them into submission....for 99.99% of the race he was ahead and then LOSES because the Saffer lad has longer fingertips.

But not as disappointing as the coverage. GOOOD FKIN GOD. Will the BBC please stop cutting to special shots of the British no hoper out in lane 8 who is near last. NO WON FKIN WANTS TO SEE THAt. THEY DO IT EVERY FRIKIN TIME.
I saw the 200m backstroke the other night....EPIC race with Missy Franklin powering up the lane to win a great duel but they kept cutting back to the British lass out in lane 7 who was miles behind.
WHAT A JOKE.

The Nog commentator was up your alley. "Shame", "disappointing", "could have been the first to win three in a row" blah blah. The winner is he who is first over the finish line, and Phelps f*cked up, he sailed instead of going for another swim.Doesn't matter if he was leading for 198 m. And the Saffer, blimey, a 20 year old lad who cried with joy and pride over the gold. So happy he won it. Winning 15 gold medals doesn't mean you have the right to just pick up the 16th, imo.
