It is not surprising but I do find it mildly irratating that there was not one mention of nerves, or bottle, or pressure in commentary during any of the 13 minutes in which Man City imploded and collapsed last night. The narrative soon became that champions knew how to rescue a point from that situation by scoring in the 8th minute of 6 added time.
Absolutely. Also, the 'red card' incident.... that is never a red card. If that happened to us I guarantee it would not even have been mentioned.
The equaliser does make a big difference. Had they lost, we could have afforded to draw one game. Now we have to remain 100% to avoid goal difference issues.
I remember thinking this after the Bournemouth game. You think a draw is no good but actually it could have been crucial.
And the most frustrating thing was not the equaliser, it was City's second goal. How can one pass cut straight through the middle of your team to give Haaland a 1 on 1. It was beyond terrible defending by Everton. (I also thought they defended poorly for the other two goals, stood off and gave City too much space on the edge of the box).
Basically.
You know what would be the real laugh? If, after a season where they didn't much play together, we find that a fully fit and firing B brings out the very best of Vik and elevates him to wonder-levels. A bit like Bergies through balls and his understanding of them changed Freddie L from being a decent top level MF to a first name on the teamsheet title winner.
Good God, it would be hilarious if him and B combine for 3 goals a game from now on.
That no look pass to B for our second. I have never seen so much space opened up with a short sideways pass.
I know Vik would have been buzzing, he's already scored a decent goal and he's made the crowd happy. But even so. Had Bergy/Cesc/Ozil etc played that pass we'd have been creaming our pants.
Not bad for a cock-eyed, three-legged donkey, imo.
