It was already 15 secs over when the throw was taken. There had been no injury or substitution in injury time. The only delay was their kid headbutting Gabby's elbow to claim a pen and the ref rightly decided that doing that shouldn't gain any extra time for them. He should have kept trying to get past Gabby until Raya picked up.Quote:

If time is up, rhe ref should blow. In reality, you kind of know he isn't going to until the ball arrives in a neutral position. When the clock rolls around to the end of added time I usually think we just need to win the ball back once.

I know it's unusual. My reading - and this is only mine so prob wrong - was that from about 85-88 mins, he started to give them a chance. Every 50/50 went their way. But when, in the 93rd min, that kid bundled into Gabby and then insulted the ref by claiming he was elbowed, I think the ref thought sod it, you can have your mins and no more. Don't take me for a muppet.
And fair play to him.
