I was blessed with a highlight reel of his time with us on TikTok this morning. If ONLY in an alternative reality could we have him at his peak in our current team. Can you imagine? We'd be unstoppable. He was so so so good.

Fabregas. **** him :-(
Sanchez was one of those players who doesn't make those around him better. A very good player but ultimately one that is too unpredictable and sloppy to improve a side. I didn't think of him as a Wenger player at all.
I didn't like us in that era.
Ha! The aussies used to say they would offer him a single just to get him down the other end so they could bowl to someone who actually wanted to play the game.
Boycott claimed that the aussies never gave anyone anything, and they were no more generous at the crease than they were at the bar. And if they did want him down the other end it was only because they couldn't get him out. :-)
You can see why people didn't warm to him :-)
Comments here are nuts. He was insanely good for us. Not much he can do when the rest of the team were operating at a lower energy. He worked his arse off. Assists + goals + crazy off ball work. I get calling him a treacherous c**t for going to United, but to not like him when he played with us is a wild take.
Was never fond of Giroud at the time. I remember saying to my mate on his debut, when he missed a sitter against Sunderland(?) - "the new Chamakh". Turned out to be decent I suppose.
Chamakh...

Having said all that, Alexis probably wouldn't make all that much difference to the team today. Assuming he would replace Martinelli, we (anyway, me) would still be grumbling about thirty-goal a season strikers.
He was always a highspeed, world class danger for us and would add a few direct free-kicks and a sprinkling of star quality to the team. An in-form GM could match his output though and is still fairly young, plenty of potential there.
Agreed. Dribbling ability masks alot of sins and as football lovers we revere players that can dribble and beat their man. By comparison, shooting and especially scoring goals are considered low, inferior skills and abilities.
Even Cristiano Ronaldo explains that injury forced him to modify his game (remember the one-trick pony, stepover merchant of long ago) and he became "merely" a goalscorer.
It's a widespread malaise in the game; whereas the ability to do fancy tricks is considered a gift from the gods, actual goals are considered to be an act of God; something of a coincidence or freak of fate that can sometimes occur in a football match.
I blame coaches.
