A United fan I know was fuming last night at their inability to deal with the corners. I did try and politely point out that nobody can deal with them.
We seem to now have a huge variety of routines, most of which dont even involve blocking the keeper. All rather amusing :-)
My mate, a Brighton fan, was trying to say we'd got away with another foul for the 1st one. I politely asked him to point out where.....silence.
It's funny, teams are just terrified now, which just makes it easier. Crowd gets up, like it's a penalty, players don't where to start, where to look, who to follow. It's hilarious.
This is a very good point. For ever, defending sides have set up at corners to block, push, pull shirts, nudge etc. What we are doing is constructing scenarios where we can fo the same thing back to them. And suddenly they want a foul....
Some of these routines are genius. Very, very hard to defend against.
Look at the delivery, they are literally all on the money, out of the 13 corners only once did we fail to beat the 1st man. I'd also like to have seen that short corner routine not been stopped. Saka and Odegaard looked really pissed off, as though they had something special up their sleeves.
The delivery is exceptional and, for the people who think it is easy, worth noting only Rice and Saka can do it to this level. When they don't play, the delivery isn't as good. It is NOT easy.
But the rest is more difficult still. Gabriel's goal at West Ham looks like a simple run and good delivery. It was actually orchestrated- Timber nudges Paqueta, the runs in front of Gabriel are designed purely to get in the way of the guy trying to mark him. There are no fouls, just coordinated runs that block space and move defenders. It is brilliant in design and performance.
You need to coach that and the fact is that most coaches aren't very good, most players can't retain information. We have excellent coaches and players who don't forget their jobs.
