I actually think his keeping has been pretty good - few mistakes but pretty solid. He walks into the team as batsman now, no matter what happens with the gloves. I see Cox is going to keep in New Zealand - that will be interesting - not convinced by him in either capacity
You can thank me for that 7th wicket partnership. Fed Puddle Paws and the phone binged saying 5th wicket down. He went up for a post-munch stroke on the bed in what's now his room. Phone binged, 6 down.
PP was turning around as I stroked him and he then often flops down. I said "Are you gonna collapse like England?"
But he stayed upright and flicked his tail out behind and stroked my arm as he often does.
So I said "Does that mean the tail is gonna wag and the tail will be stroking it everywhere?" And he kept going which means he was saying yes.
If I'd kept stroking him for longer, Smith would have got his ton.
All of Creation is Holistic, after all.
There you go. Told you all of Creation is Holistic. You should have switched on earlier.
Maybe we should get the Barmy Army to pay for you and Puddles to go to the Ashes. But just promise to keep him safe from dingoes.
Get P and PP on the plane and we'll beat those dastardly Convicts.
I think we're starting in Perth this time {which means a sodding 2am kick-off instead of midnight.} But it's not at the Waca, some new stadium. {A stadium, not a cricket ground at a guess.} Anyone know how it plays compared to the Waca? Does it still have that bounce and carry with the 'Freemantle Doctor' blowing across the pitch?
That might be helpful. Remember in 2011-12, we got hammered at the Waca in the 3rd test. {You went out for that series, didn't you?}
It would be great if they've fücked up a stadium that gave them a great advantage over us just to have more seats {says a Gooner who now has 60k seats and no marble halls that Ganpati had blessed us with.}
Which test is the poxy pink ball one? Was it last time that we based our entire selection about having JA for that one cos it might swing more if we won the toss but didn't? Just pick your bext XI ffs.
Errr... I don't think the aussies need a stadium to have an advantage over us. Our last three tours have been shocking. Not just beaten out of sight but never even genuinely competitive in any of the games. Apart from a brief spell under the lights with the pink ball.
To have even half a chance we need a bowling attack that can take 20 wickets over there.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
Do have to say that Australia are an ageing team and there doesn't seem to be a lot coming through
By next year their bowling attack will probably still be:
Hazlewood 34
Starc 35
Cummins 32 (obviously still brilliant)
Lyon 38
We're 12 months out from the Ashes - they have a whole Test summer (and a difficult one against India) to get through. Not sure they will be as strong as they have been in the previous series
I'm confident we can compete against their bowling. I'm just concerned about ours.
The last three tours have seen us consistently struggle to take wickets. Would be great if we can go there with a bowling attack that can actually threaten consistently, with a few options. Wood and archer would help.
I don't think it is as simple as being able to bowl above 90 but certainly we need bowlers who don't rely on swing and excessive seam movement.
Aa others have said, Atkinson looks good. I quite liked Mahmood but injuries seem to have crippled him.
Yes - I can see where you are coming from. I think Stone can be useful too - but one of Wood and Archer with Atkinson and Stokes supporting will make a hell of a difference. And another year's experience for Bashir could be interesting - the talent is there as his height makes him a real threat on Aussie pitches. I'm planning to be out there for some of it so have to remain positive
One day, I want to do that. Maybe.
The biggest frustration is that the ashes is massive, and when it is over here it is so incredibly exciting. Yet over there it's so one sided that it's over before it begins. I just want to see a competitive series, regardless of who wins.
I also want to win, because they are ****s 😀
