Welcome to the Arsenal, Raheem :-\
Don't get the hate. Sure he runs a bit like a flamer, but arguably one of England's best ever wingers. Still 29.
Trossard was disappointing on Saturday and I can see why there is frustration with Jesus and Martinelli (and to a certain extent with Partey, but I thought he stepped on very well after the red).
Still we are taking about a side who in 2024 w19 d2 l1 of 22 league games this calendar year. We need to improve but hard to see where
a slightly stronger bench would be nice, I know we've been unlucky with our new signings being injured.
I am quite excited to see Sterling play.
I think we did panic a little bit on Saturday after going down to ten men.
Odegaard didn't look right to me. looks sick.
Our midfield hasn't looked great so far. Partey has been sluggish and I am not convinced that Rice is comfortable wandering out to the left. You could even argue he is wasted there.
That is our current issue. We're not playing badly, we are just not in full swing yet. Our next two games would be a great time to start finding a bit of rhythm.
True, and that is one big concern. We tend to build rhythm through repetition, and that generally involves picking substantially the same XI each week. We are now at a stage where a degree of rotation is going to be essential, and not just at left back. I'm sure we can cope, but we will have to.
The other thing in our favour is we seem to continue to improve defensively which offers the opportunity to win games even when you aren't at your best. Again, essential.
I think we can have a good season but I am afraid I just don't see us getting past City. They cruise through 80 or 90% of their matches and there is always a feeling that they have another gear. The closer we get, the better they perform.
At least we have finished top of the honest league twice in a row :-)
Now there is a problem we haven't had for a while :-)
Firstly, we have to hope that Pep ****s off soon. Whoever they get in his place it will at least give us a chance of winning it. Maybe....
Secondly, I think there are only a handful of our players who would get a better offer. Once you are finishing top 3 in the league, latter stages of the Champions League, and getting paid 200 grand plus a week there are only a handful of clubs it would be worth going to- PSG, Bayern, City, Real and Barcelona.
Odegaard isnt going back to Real so his options are reduced. You would like to think Saka has some loyalty to us which should buy us some time. Saliba is the one I honestly think we wont be able to keep. Huge, huge money is going to come his way if he keeps playing the way he is.
As others have said before, if you are going to have great players then sometimes you are going to lose one or two of them.
The bigger concern is keeping Edu and Arteta. Or, being able to replace that relationship. Our success is built on that relationship.
