Two Sideshow Bobs in one team?
Good grief.
Of course it makes some sense in taking a bit of catastrophe pressure off Mustafi. They can share the burden now.
Luiz and Gwen in midfield would be like
Attachment 1110
Lol
Luiz & Mustafi vs Welbeck & Troy will be a battle for the ages imo
Much better player in his second spell with them compared to the first. Probably better than all our defenders apart from the hairy Greek.
Luiz hugely improves our passing from the back. Which was pitiful at times last season. A lot of our defensive issues were caused by this. Getting pressed into errors constantly. The rest of his game can be a bit erratic, but probably no worse than Mustafi and co. In all honesty, we were never going to land a massive CB signing in this window with our current budget. We’ve done quite well overall. Getting Pepe was a huge bonus.
Line up for Newcastle?
Leno in goal...his best position
Chambers
Sokratis
Luiz
Reece
Gwen
Xhaka
Kokasinac
Willock
Lacazette
Aboomerang
Perhaps not what we’re looking for but a vast improvement on the hapless Mustafi. I suppose, given the spending constraints and longer term picture of Holding & Saliba, it makes sense.
Fair play to Raul and Indian Finance guy for making £45m work
Also...
Destabilised Zaha
Laid the groundwork for an Upamecano deal later on if required...
Started work on moving Ozil to the MLS in January

Fair play to Jenkinson...lived the dream.
You have only to look at the last match vs Barca to see what a problem this was. Kept shooting ourselves in the foot by giving it away, and of course Matland-Niles did an own goal. Think Luiz adds considerably, if you want to know. And Upamacano is only 20, thus another understudy.

We got 'em.
Like Gallas and Cech, another Chelsea hand-me-down past his best.
We give them Giroud, who is still pretty much at the top of his game.
