Having another go at the fans, are we Arsene? That's pretty low and ironic, considering
that without all those loathsome fans, who the manager and his sycophantic concubines constantly deride, the players and most certainly Mr. Wenger would be absolute NOBODIES.
I sometimes get annoyed by some of my band's fans, but I do not, not for one minute, forget, that without them I would be absolutely nowhere on the music scene. It's an old cliche, but it's very very true and to smirk at all that means your smug arrogant arse will be handed to you sooner rather than later and you're really a loser of the highest calibre - in ANY walk of life, regardless of the money you have. Rant over and a good morning to you, AWIMB, may you all rise amidst the still tingling memories of an infamous weekend orgy!
-
If you think this is 'having a go', you're a proper sensitive soul.
“I think after the Tottenham game where we played a very good game with 10 men against 11 and came back to 2-2, I couldn’t understand why – at the moment when you need everyone behind the team – we had to hit that storm. From the media, OK. From our fans? It is a bit more difficult to take.â€
Seems a fair point to me.
-
As far as I can see it he gave a pretty considered response to the question when put to him
I do think the criticism this season, whilst in places warranted, has stung him more than usually though. I cant see him wanting to put himself through it all again but neither can I see him breaking his contract.
-
Since when was unconditional support a pre condition of being a fan ?
I'm quite confident that we'll finish in third spot, anything more really would be a bonus at this point.
Wenger should be more accepting of criticism after twenty seasons in the job. In some respects, the poor sod is at the point of win something or move on, whereas a new manager would be afforded more time to build something new, without the ugly hostility.
Baring a disaster, he'll be here next season. Chances are with the addition of a couple of astute buys, we'll be top 4 again.
What's become more clear this year is that given the vacuum vacated by the other top dogs, he failed to capitalise, leading many to conclude that he really needs to be a bit more gracious and move on.
He won't of course, we all know that, which means the less restrained will become more abusive and so the cycle begins again.
-
He's entitled to defend himself. Criticism is fine but some of this "criticism" is merely insults.
-
Well, no one's mentioned unconditional support except you, which is rich in irony itself.
-
Agree but there will always be that element in every society.
Expecting them to behave otherwise is a bit like blaming builders for drinking tea.
-
Sure. So that type of criticism can be treated with the contempt it deserves.
-
While it is true that I am, at times, a tad sensitive, perhaps it's the fact that
this fans thing has come up too many times in close proximity in the last couple of weeks, or maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but no - I feel quite good in fact.
-
If he isn't entitled to unconditional support, then the fans aren't entitled to uncondititional
support from him either
f**k them, they need him and the club much more than the club needs them (the moaning banner ****ers that is)
-
This may in some degree be attributable to the fact that a large section of our supporters are whiny
entitled little man-children who are having a collective tantrum because they aren't getting what they want. Should such people not be subject to criticism?
-
I think the fans thing has come up a lot recently because it is a serious issue.
I stopped going to the Emirates because the atmosphere had become so unpleasant; from what I hear now, it has become positively poisonous.
A reasonsable man might consider that to be a problem for the team.
-
Apaprently there was even fighting between fans on Sat.
A 2-0 away win, after a difficult week, in which we seemed to play our best football for months. And still some were unhappy. I don't get it C, I really don't.
-
Because events are not supporting their agenda
Therefore muggy banners and tantrums ahoy!
-
I heard it was Pokster and some other

fighting over a comb
-
I heard he smashed a plastic pint glass (??) over somebody's head
-
What a time to be alive

This is what 70 years of socialism has brought us to, rnwa.
No honour. No respect. No decency. Just entitlement and thuggery.
-
Fighting between fans?? Well I never
Seen it before. Sir C used to lay into anybody having a go at Talbot
-
It amazes me that these supporters insist on their 'right' to protest, but seem oblivious to the
suggestion that they may have any responsibilities in terms of showing support for the team and therefore - presumably - contributing to its performance.
What was it someone said about rights without responsibilities again? :rubchin:
-
He doesn't need it *anymore*.
-
Faaaaaaahkin Talbot!
-
You can see why
-
I've said before, I don't think it's about mere football results anymore.
-
Yes, yes, yes!
-
In fairness, they *did* purchase tickets and go all the way down to Goodison
-
Presumably they did this with the intention of actually supporting the team, yes?
How do they feel that openly attacking the players and management does that, exactly?
-
And they did this purely in a spirit of selflessness, did they?
-
Errr..right. I'm struggling to see what that has to do with my point, j.
I know you love a gif, but that's just a non-sequitur, I'm afraid.
-
Who can say. The point is that they did it

-
I just wanted to bring up the traditional Yerp-based implosion
Where do you think the quiet man found his conscience after six years?
-
Oh, it's about f**king over Osborne, which is a consummation devoutly to be wished.
I would struggle to vote for an Osborne-led Tory party and his leadership hopes have taken a right kicking now.
-
I don't know.
What I *do* know is lots of money means, that as a professional, I personally wouldn't care a fig for their thoughts.
The wife and kiddies getting bantered off in the streets would trouble me more, although maybe the rewards take care of that too.
-
You'd hope the rest of the party would stop attacking eachother though
It's essentially turned into a massive bar brawl with everybody pointing fingers.
So, just to be clear, are you saying that it wasnt about IDS' sudden damascene conversion and that he's perfectly happy robbing the poor to give tax breaks to the rich?
-
Not being privy to his inner thoughts, I couldn't possibly say.

I'm only telling you what
the end result is - namely Osborne's leadership bid being severely hobbled.
-
Oooh, I want one
-
Why would you not vote for an Osborne-led TP?
Is it because the man is, in Sir C's words, a communist?
-
No. It's because the man strikes me as a nasty piece of work. I know lefties think we tories revel
in voting for nasty pieces of work. but there are limits.
Besides, from a pragmatic point of view I think Osborne is sufficiently unlikeable to manage to turn off the electorate in droves. Obviously, he'd still beat Corbyn, but my mum could beat Corbyn.
