Good Pubs/ late bars/clubs Leicester Sq - Trafalgar Sq London
Ok hitting London this weekend for some football and beer
Decided to head uptown to the bright lights of capital city. Have not done this in a while and wondering what are the decent pubs, late bars around Leicester Sq and Trafalgar Sq areas. There will be 4/5 of us and most of them like their music cheesy and danceable(not me)
Any decent clubs around these areas as easier to get back home from here with late buses etc.All recommendations welcome.
Cheers

Bring lots of money.
I like the Maple leaf near covent garden. But I haven't been there in ages so don't know if it's any good.
if you want dinner go to Sartori it's ace.
-
Not my sort of thing really, I'm afraid. Bars with music, and so on.
Well, sometimes the places I drink have a pianist and a lounge singer. It always makes one feel like one is in a 60s movie, doesn't it?
-
Porterhouse in Covent Garden is a very good pub - massive place with huge selection of beer
only open til midnight though like most bars as Westminster is strict on licensing
f**k knows about clubs - the Borderline was always good and tacky in my day but I#m :old:

Buses is entirely dependent on where you are staying
-
I would avoid the whole Leicester Sq - Trafalgar Sq areas if I were you mate.
It's a f**king kip.
Much more fun to be found in other areas, perhaps more logically based depending on where you are staying.
I note from your 'profile' that you perhaps drink in the Mercantile. If so then walk into any bar on any high street.
-
Re: I would avoid the whole Leicester Sq - Trafalgar Sq areas if I were you mate.
I am staying in South London while the rest staying in Finsbury. Others are doing Camden Friday night and they want to do something different on the Sat. Have done most of the pubs in Islington and around so just want to try somewhere different
Yep we all drink in the Mercantile but the girls want to Bop and head uptown. I'd be happy back in Camden
-
Get twunted in The Gunners and then stagger home with a kebab
-
It's hard to find a good old Kebab these days.
The shops are either completely **** or gone all flash.
I got one a few weeks ago I thought this is a bit strange.
Bloody rice with it. RICE. and fancy bread
it was nice but no thanks.
-
You want a King Kebab from Bobby'z in Idle
It's like a medley of every kebab ever, it's so big that conventional pitta bread will not suffice and it has to be wrapped in a giant Naan.
-
Very hard.
After last years Cup Final we got out of the cab at Old Street roundabout as there is/was a very good kebab shop about 100 yards away and en route to our hotel (Central Street).
Could we find it? Could we f**k.
Think we had to get another cab in fact.
-
There is a good chance you will be in bits on the saturday.
Use your innate Irish initiative in these circumstances.
Suggest the early cure, get into a pub in Camden early doors and before you know what time it is you will all be dancing.
-
The bit just before the fire station? there used to be a few there
probably all been replaced with international internet companies offices.
-
There used to be some properly moody pubs there too
-
I always hope I will find some good takeaways when I visit places out of London.
Stratford upon avon. Rubbish fish and chips.
Manchester - found a top crappy pizza takeaway that did hotdogs and all stuff. Very good
Swansea - Worst breakfast I've ever had in this cafe. Weatherspoons breakfast is better. When food arrives 5 seconds after ordering it be very concerned.
Southampton - ace kebab shop near some strip club. did pizza with kebab meat.
You'd think I'd be spot for choice down Green Lanes but not of them hit the spot.
-
Old Street towards Farringdon, past where the petrol station is.
Actually the next left turn after the Kebaberie would take you down where Whitecross Market used to be.
f**ked if I could find it and I was the one with the knowledge of the manor.
Drink was taken.
-
There was one kid in our class at secondary school who looked like an old man
he'd go in there in his uniform and take his tie off and have a pint. (no badge on his blazer)
I looked him on facebook. Early 30's he looks about 65.
-
The word 'moody' used in that context takes me right back to my youth.
I think I first heard it ascribed to Bagleys. It was also there that I first heard a large black man described as 'a massive four-door', which was racist and absolutely terrible and didn't cause me to guffaw at all.
-
Ah yes. Whitecross used to be great. nicking pornos from the magazine stall.
chip shop then go to the Barbican and security would kick us out.
You stayed at the Thistle Barbican?
-
The Thistle by any chance
Might be staying there this time around
-
Bagley's

I think I've sweated more there than anywhere else
Such a good club that you'd often come home without your tshirt.
Four door? New won on me. Is it me or has racialism got less inventive?
-
I can get a decent one here. There's a place called kebab city. Immigrants

-
It's often a forgotten hotel. Especially on the weekends. Prices in angel are usually
quite ridiculous now. Especially now Jurys is also a Hilton.
For some reason the Premier Inn in City road is always full of northern families.
-
Great hotel.
Check in, room not ready, leave bag with concierge, come back at 2am, collect bag from concierge after trying to show him all manners of receipts and LU daily passes (unused), alarm at 7am and leave.
No point in me giving my user experience to TripAdvisor.

Yeah, the Islington school system threw up some odd genetic anomalies.
We had a lummoxy kid who, at the age of 11, could feasibly pass for an adult. He sent me an FB request and it turns out he's just carried on exponentially growing and is now, by the looks of it, well over 7ft tall.
-
I can remember when Whitecross was second hand cds and had a pie & mash shop.
Recently I saw it on television and it was all "street food" and beards.
c**ts.
-
Zoo bar / club is simple , cheapish and easy to pull..general dancable
more bar upstairs more club down..ticks box's imo
-
Now that I pay for my own hotels I'm very much liking Tune hotels
You can't beat 55 quid a night in central London and they're pretty decent for that price.
-
Quite often good deals on the go.
Cheaper than Jurys normally, perhaps proximity to Upper Street allows a higher price.
I lived in the Thistle for about 10-12 weeks once on relocation from Ireland. My top level boss nearly f**king killed me when a bill eventually got to him for sign off.
Another c**t, from Bradford.
-
or Roadhouse in covent garden..these sort of places are your friend imo like O bar in soho
used to be back in the day
-
Used to come out there completely f**ked and still would try to check I could get the
tube home. Even though the last train was about 4 hours ago.
-
Roadhouse?
-
Is it f**k. Numerous places along Kingsland Road, few decent ones on Blackstock Rd, all Green Lanes.
There's an excellent place round by Kentish Town, quite lauded apparently, I've only been once.
That's pretty much every area of London sorted imo.
-
Excellent disregard for the pointless south and western wastes there, J. Spec
-

I've been brought up proper.
-
You have your own business. Why not let somebody take care of your business travel
how many room nights a year we talking.
when are you available for a meeting?
-
Do dey have one in Dottingham?
-
I'm a bit late here but f**k it
