According to reliable Twitter ITKs* we've all but** signed Paulista from Villarreal
Met his release clause of 20 million eurobucks apparently. Sounds very un-Arsenal-like. :rubchin:
I know nothing about him except that he looks decent in a skills compilation video on youtube; and having great skills is, after all, what we all want in a central defender. He does look quite Neanderthalish, though, which is more like it imo.
*This may be an oxymoron
**What an odd expression
meh, another midget -- 6'1 1/2" Looking more for that goonish 6'3" - 6'4" range.
What about the rather major problem that he is not a Brazil international
and has no EU passport ergo he will not get a work permit
Also seen the price quoted at 6 million quid or 20 million euros
:yikes: Has the euro really got that bad :bankrupt:
Re: What about the rather major problem that he is not a Brazil international
Yeah the FA has talked about it but done f**k all
what a surprise.
Hard to make a case for exceptional talent if we are only willing to stump up 6 million though
Greg Dyke does have a point though... some of the players that have come in
are not "outstanding" talent.. in fact, I would be shocked if they are better than some of the English Championship players.
At least this one plays in a top European League for an established club*
Are Villareal still in the top division????
Yep - think they are doing quite well. In the top 6 at least
the system was always a bit of a farce - a guy with 70 odd caps for Saudi Arabia would qualify for a permit above a guy with 3 caps for Brazil. Not a huge amount of logic
Denilson qualified as an outstanding talent
maybe they thought we were buying the 23m stepover won.
He was one of the best players in his age group
was pretty good for us for a while as well which people tend to overlook
Am I imagining that he wonce scored a hattrick against Everton?
Hallucinating more like, r
Think he scored one of the goals when we beat Everton 6-1 at Goodison Park though. That was quite some game
I think it was perhaps a free kick?
Why was Denilson taking our free kicks?
There was a league cup game at WHL where he looked like a Fabregas clone.
Another game in which he sat deep and sprayed balls quarterback-fashion all over the pitch.
I thought he'd be a star tbh.
I thought he had a kind face, Sir C.
I think he had a really good tournament
one of the under age world cups, I vaguely recall they beat Mexico, with Vela and Dos Santos, in the final.
Brazil's best players were Anderson, who got a move to Porto, and Denilson.
Fine dancer, as well. Lovely little mover.
Unfortunately the lasting image of his movement was the gentle jog back while Rooney zoomed through
to inflict another dose of miserable humiliation.
He looked sort of squashed, though. As though the earth's gravity was just turned up a little too
much for him.
Which would also explain why he was so slow.
