Monty asked below "what do we do". I think that merits its own thread. We have to have a better
buying policy. Ozil showed the way (sort of) in proving we can buy big names, we have to reinforce every transfer window by getting players that are better than what we have.
And we have to give our youth players more chances. I was disappointed with the sale of Yennaris, for example. What had he done to prove he wasn't good enough for the Arsenal?
We dropped points at Southampton because we had a team tired from beating Coventry. Surely we should be a team who always has half a dozen kids with a chance of making it? But they need to be given chances. We're not doing enough of that which makes the pressure on our smallish squad of experienced players even worse.
-
We didn't drop points against Soton because we had a team tired from playing Coventry
Leaving aside there was plenty of time between games the line-up was completely different - only four players who started against Coventry started against Soton
-
I was responding to you wetting your knicker because we have failed to pull far enough away
from the teams below us to guarantee a top four finish.
You seem to think that genuine title challengers should not have to worry about such lowly inconveniences.I put it to you that this is a highly arrogant point of view. It is only a couple of years since the billionaire backed Chelsea finished outside the top 5 (albeit winning the CL the same year)
-
Who was thon German nipper that's been playing on the wing for us then?
About 18, first season in the 1st team? Seemed to do quite well. And some 16 year old too. I remember him playing a bit.
There are many accusations we can level at AW/the club, but not playing young players (that He thinks are good enough) is not one of them.

For years AW has been slated for picking youth team players with zero PL experience. It takes them a long time to add value to a league chasing team and not all will be good enough to make it. Our fans aren't willing to give a 17 year old the benefit of making a few mistakes each game
Also, it makes me laugh when fans say they don't understand why we haven't seen more of Akpom, Yennaris <insert youth team player name here>. Wenger and his coaches who watch them in training every day know if they are good enough, or if they have the right mentality (see the mistake with Frimpong as an example of them getting it wrong). If they were anywhere near good enough, Wenger would use them like a shot

I am really tempted to double check this but I'll let you have that one for free
Was it really 4? :rubchin:
:hehe:
-
I don't think you can drop first teamers solely to play kids.
Firstly, it costs you points and performances; secondly it costs you money.
As for the "big names", well...
-
He probably read it in a newspaper. You know what he's like.
-
gpwm
-
The Coventry games was also the least energetic spectacle I have ever witnessed
-
Your mum is the least energetic spectacle I have ever witnessed
-

Redgunamo! I am surprised at you!
-
Me, too. I've been hanging around with too many of the wrong people online lately.
-
Indeed. We dropped points because we played badly.
-
I am receiving counselling regarding the sale of Yennaris.
You're lucky that you are merely disappointed.
-

See Gnabry
-
I liked the lad, very surprised to see him go
-
Very surprised, really?
You'll need to sit down then when you find out that Mark Randall has been let go.
-
In other words, more signings, bigger squad but also use the kids more
What about sunday though? What do we do for sunday?
-
Play our best team. We won't though. I'm guessing Bendtner or Sanogo will play, Flamini
will come back in (that's a bonus though), Monreal and Jenkinson will probably start, as will Fabianski. Cazorla and Ozil will probably be rested too.
-
We need flamini back. Arteta looked really bad at times last night.
Play bendtner.
I just want to avoid a replay or a hammering.
-
Nah, I always said he was shit
-
I doubt Arteta will be here past next season, and i can see him having
a limited role next season too.
-
Would be nice to have a bit of muscle and pace in there
-
If only I was 25 years younger.
The new Vieira except smaller, whiter and better.
-
and had muscles
-
wear black scarves and moan a lot ?
-
Kos, Per, Özil and Gnabry
Fabianski was in nets, Jenkinson and Gibbs full backs, some other lads in midfield Obe Wan Kenonbi up front. I've had three hours sleep - do your own f**king research
-
lol.
-
-
And some pace?
