I'm confused. Why is Joey Barton's comment on Question Time about last week's polls being like a
choice "between four really ugly girls" considered sexism?
Sexism is generally described as prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. Surely Barton's comments were simply prejudice or discrimination based on a person's looks, which is something entirely different?
-
It's because this country has brainwashed lots of spasticated morons in to waking up every day
looking for an 'ism' or 'ist' or something offensive to moan about. Tragic, tragic ****ers :****er: I'd be happy to join your cancer crusade on these tossers, if you'll have me
-
who cares really ? he's a cnut plus people calling him sexist or oaning are cnuts..and people
on awimb talking about him are cnuts :-)
-
i woke up this morning looking for gism...great dream it was..its my favourite ism imo
-
Last night I dreamt that I let my cat out into our garden (we don't have a garden)
and he jumped over the fence and escaped http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/frown.gif
Oh and something about my girlfriend being suicidal but to be honest I was more concerned about the cat.
I think I should probably stay away from alcohol until things settle down at home http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif
-
This country has become a c**try.
-
I think it was mostly just crass, to be honest. Although the presupposition that it is for Joey
Barton to be the arbiter of such value judgements is fairly Neanderthal.
Most importantly, it made him come across as a thick c**t - which is what matters
-
Fair point. On another note, this idea that a politician can’t know what “ordinary” people’s lives
are like because they are financially comfortable themselves. It’s surely *******s, isn’t it? Why do you have to have experienced something yourself to understand or be empathetic about it?
-
the cat represented your penis
Smelly, sleeping most of the time, and as it cleared the fence impotency set in.
Dont judge your missus, she's getting no sleep and just pushed out a sprog. Shes got one paradite, dont be another.
-
Of course. By being a politician one already ceases to be an ordinary person. Indeed, no-one would
dream of voting for an 'ordinary' person, which is why politicians exist.
-
Amazing what property ownership & fatherhood can do, welcome to the right side of politics
![Thumb Up](images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif)
-
Pff. If I were ever to vote, I certainly wouldn't cast it based on self-interest
whatever the cost to myself.
-
Re: Of course. By being a politician one already ceases to be an ordinary person. Indeed, no-one would
-
its also got AIDS/Cancer like montys penis so very apt analogy
-
Not everyone is myopic as you, Dorset
-
I tend to vote for who I think will run the country better. Over the long term
that is in my best interest more than short term tax breaks or other sweeteners offered by desperate politicians.
It's an attitude I take into supporting Arsenal as well :-)
-
People's capacity for empathy/sympathy is an entirely different issue
As bore out by the sheer amount of toffs who have been prominent figures on the left and also by the amount of people from less well off backgrounds who have become tories.
-
![hehe](images/smiley_icons/hehe.gif)
Sorry, but you are joking, yes? Everyone votes based on self-interest - it's merely a
question of what you define as your interest.
-
I tend to vote for some either silly or communist party imo
not sure why...voting in Henley area just always seems a bit of lost vote tbh
-
On the one hand well judged on the other tribal
-
If, for example, I fell into the 40% income tax bracket, and one party was pledging to increase the
threshold to nudge me down to 20%, the fact that I would stand to gain financially by this party being elected would not influence my vote.
-
Well yes, you'd be a very silly communist to bother standing in Henley
Who's the MP there now Hezza's retired his magnificent barnet?
-
So it's ok to make an inaccurate accusation, as long as we don't like the person and think they
should be accused of something. Anything, really.
-
I'm still bemused by the phrase 'silly OR communist party', tbh.
What could be sillier than a communist party?
-
http://www.johnhowellmp.com/ i just like seeing the 1 or 2 votes for S.W.P or commies
and know one of them is mine :-)
-
a microsoft new release of windows party ?
now that was a f**king silly marketing department idea of a party if my memory of ****e marketing is correct
