Walk into a shop in Paris and you will be greeted with a 'Bonjour Monsieur' and it will be expected that you greet the whole shop with a 'Messieurs 'dames'. When you are introduced to someone you will definitely shake his hand, no question. You will wish people a good day, weekend, stay or trip as appropriate to their condition.
