I was in London from 87, knee deep in that ****.
As a 'scene' I found the illegal venues to be not as cool or as much fun as they are looked back on with nostalgic eyes, largely due to a very sinister undercurrent which I found to run through them.
I would have been sat in a field in Somerset at a music festival while you were at home dreaming of becoming JPR Williams.
ahh the dark undercurrent was how i earnt my...petrol money..crust in fact we used to get a lot of our wholesale stock supplies from some lovely republican types for speed / goldsealin north london and some lovely uda type chaps just off the new kings road for e's :-) so yes you oirish were there from the stat and I was messing with cha
The lineup was serious but slightly disturbing to the senses owing to the differing odors and carpeting in each stage.
For example I'll forever smell athletes foot and feel marshmallow floor when I listen to Dean Blunt.
it was nicer in 88 - 89 i agree in fields really by 91 indeed it was getting very dark ..being out by oxford i always found coming into the arches / london bridge ngihts much less fun than being under the m40 somewhere :-)
Last saw Mills at Lost in London 2012 I think.
