Key phrase being overnight.
I don't get it. We were pretty much running break even until now. Now we're set to make
annual profits of £50m and he thinks we will still be shy to spend?
God almighty. I only said we would spend a bit less net than you.
30 million net is a fair old spend for one summer. Do you honestly think we plan to blow every penny of profit every summer?
That stadium isnt paid for yet you know.
Yes, because we built the stadium yesterday, and have front-loaded commercial deals
which will soon become very weak. Meanwhile, the era of oiligarchs is about to arrive, inflating transfer fees and salaries, which will make it hard for us to compete. Also, a massive economic collapse will soon happen which will damage the property revenues needed to fund the stadium. Taken together we'll be a bit skint for years and will do well to stay anywhere near the top.
Eventually, after about a decade of austerity, we'll get new commercial deals which will allow us to spend more freely. Until then, I suppose we'll just have to wait and hope that we can stay in the CL revenues and maybe win the odd cup.
The profit figures are obviously after paying the mortgage. Clearly the wages of the squad are
going to increase, but with an extra £25m in TV money and £40-£50m in sponsorship money every season it's not unrealistic to expect us to spend £50m on 2/3 players every summer.
Not forgetting we have £120m cash in the bank as well.
The two of you are being a bit ridiculous. I though 30 odd million was a reasonable net spend
But clearly the very notion of it is angering you both.
Lets just wait and see what we spend shall we? Apart from anything else, it is going to rely heavily on wenger being able to get who he wants. Surely we can all agree he wont splash put for the sake of it.
Ok, ok, ok. Lets wait and see.
I think if your scenario became reality this summer there'd be more than a few
Remy & Aurier wouldn't cost much. Add a league deux CH and we're there.
We can afford one big tent player this summer. It might as well be Cesc.
