If you really want to side track me down this analogy :rubchin: then that game in mid-April is 1916 on the Western Front. We just have to not lose. Then we have it all in our hands. Their ships are back in port post-Jutland, and they haven't cut off our sword - France - by bleeding her white as Falkenhyn planned for 1916, hence his resignation at the end of the year. Cos he knew that a draw was not enough and the war was lost as it was just the run-in from there on in.
