Short game I, had a scratch golfer tell me 50% of your practice time should be chipping and putting. Had one lesson on each and with practice they both went from a weakness to a strength. Hdcp went from 11 to 7 almost entirely because of my short game.
Vilamoura every June with 3 mates for golf, boozing, eating and other <cough> indulgences, life is good :-)
Broadly agree. Getting from tee to (near) the green is the easier bit. Decent scrambling is where you get your scores down.
Must play more next year. Costs about ?80 a round at the frequency I play nowadays...

But now I'm wondering if some lessons with a pro would be benefical? My good mates mostly play but three of them are off scratch (one of them better than that). This makes me playing with them more them watching me as I attempt to go around in less than 90-95.
Not a golfer but golf courses make excellent hunting grounds during the Winter months; both shooting and coursing, so I'm a lifelong fan..

We were there first, I'm afraid. That's why even the ancient cave paintings of Indonesia depict hunting scenes rather than golf matches.

Yeah. I like partridge but my mates, I don't know; their nerves and eyes have gone to pot from a lifetime of too much strong drink so we mostly go after pheasant nowadays.
