I was surprised that AW credited the advent of the Premier League with prolonging our older players' careers. It was the massive jump in wages that really helped persuade them that it was worthwhile to try to adapt their ways and remain at the top level with us, rather than float down the leagues as was customary.

No, but would Bobby have chosen us over RM {the day after winning Euro 2000, we watched it live during the TdF coverage on Canal+ in St Martin} if it hadn't been for AW, Paddy and Titi being here?

Hopefully Big Willy will be the same. Tell Los Francos to eff off cos he's a Gooner through and through.

No, he wouldn't have chosen us had it not been for Wenger. I think Pires has effectively said that before. But players wanting to play specifically for YOU is not luck. And it wasn't because he was French.

Kolo Toure, Edu, Van Persie, Silvinho, Igors Stepanovs..... it is fair to say Wenger's knowledge ran beyond French football.

I agree it was playing for AW, but that AW team had PV4 and Titi who only AW would have got to come to the PL at that time. And that can't have hurt.

I remember watching the interview when they cut away from the push-bike racing.

Basically, his peak years were ruined by Dennis not ageing quick enough for him to partner Titi. Maybe his agent got DB10's age mixed up like the moody Scouse Jock did?
