Slight difference to calling someone a wanker or granny shagger (factually correct)
than to wishing someone dead or to get raped and then to be be dumb enough to put in the public domain in writing
I don't. Online is just much more public, easier to prove and dissemination easier.
In short, he's a bit thick.
Of course. But as we know, abuse at football matches gets a lot worse than
calling people granny shaggers or ****ers, and most of us have at least laughed when it does (though of course, most of us also have a limit as to what we are prepared to laugh at - but that line limit is often pretty broad)
Abuse at a football game is borderline pantomime.
If you approached the same player in the street or made a video of said abuse then it would be seen differently, and correctly so.
The Adebayor incident against City springs to mind, I stood there rather bewildered at it all
the bloke nicking the stewards's chair and lobbing it was mildly amusing
We rejoiced and uncorked champagne when Thierry did virtually the same thing to Spurs fans.
Of course Thierry is not the despicable scumbag that EA is so one was seen as a jape while the other was deemed worthy of the electric chair.
I do sort of agree with that. And I don't even think the pantomine aspect comes from being in a
crowd. I think it's specifically the arena that creates the pantomine.
For example, I think if Ashley Cole walked into a pub full of Arsenal fans there would more likely be awkward giggling than actual abuse.
And a load of Spurs fans were arrested for their abusive of Sol Campbell
No difference to this kid.
Not an electric chair, but somebody did throw a chair at him
Cole was a great player for us.
A key player in a side that won two leagues and whatever number of FA Cups.
I don’t think what he did was in any way worse than what Cesc would have done, only difference being that Cole was caught and took some bad advice regarding a book release.
I’ve moved on from the whole Cole hatred thing.
