Playing Dec as the deepest lying MFer.....
When we signed him in the same summer as Kai, the idea was to play them both with Odin, but the injury to Jeez meant Kai went up top and Dec to inside left in the GX role.
Next summer we got MnM but he was injured at the start then covering for Kai at CF with Dec at inside left {left 8, L*} again.
So this year he got Zubi to replace Wigwam at DM hoping to keep Dec at L8. But we've been in trouble with some games as Zubi doesn't break the lines like Wigwam did.
So if we're gonna play Dec at DM - which as I say, seemed to be the idea at the start of his first two seasons - do we want Zubi in the more advanced role?
The options would be to play Easy at L8 with Dec at DM, or Kai at L8 as per the initial idea with Vik up top. {I do like having Odin, Kai and Easy all together.} Kai and Easy aren't as good defensively as Zubi, but Dec can break lines from DM and both Odin and Easy can drop deep to progress the ball and if one does, the other is still advanced where they can do damage.
Or we could try MnM, again as was the idea at the start of last season. He can do the MF donkey work, he can create on the edge of the box, his height gives us an outlet and wins aerial duels and he can arrive late in the box to score like Freddie did.
They'd both be options from the bench when fit even if Zubi starts.
But if we're gonna play JT and Hinchappy instead of BW and Ricky C who both get forward more, then do we need Dec and Zubi as a double pivot? Surely we can go more attacking?
