Powerful, powerful player - surprising he played full-back given how much smaller the players were back then. He could have played in the pack.

There was a documentary on the 74 Lions tour of SA some time ago and he stood out as the most intimidating of the Lions either when playing rugby or when hitting someone.

Actually started one game at flanker for Wales when they had a load of injuries - he was that good. If he hadn't gone on to be a doctor he could have been a top tennis player as well
