Been discussing your idea with one of my OU BA mates, who did this for his dissertation, and will be doing a WW2 MA while I did WW1. {Oh, and he's a retired RAF wing commander btw, not some manky crusty.}

And we both think it's far too simplistic because we both had modern breakthroughs - them: V2s, both: jets, us: a-bombs, computers and penicillin; all of which would define modern warfare - but we also both had arms that had been slowly evolving since WW1 and before.
