It hasn't yet. Nobody likes to talk about it, but different diseases do have different effects on different races. For instance, HIV is much more easily communicable among sub-Saharan Africans than Europeans - they think due to sub-Saharan Africa not having had the Black Death.
Entirely possible that this may manifest more seriously among Asians than other races.

Though given we still had the slave trade at the time of the Macartney mission, I don't think we can lecture about racism. But it wasn't the racism that was the problem, it was the economics. They'd sell us tea, etc, but not buy anything from us. They talk about a century of humiliation yet had they listened to us in the 1790s, their economic dominance would have arrived 2 centuries earlier.
