Apparently, I took a one week free trial at the beginning of Jan, and then it signed me up to a rolling six quid a month subscription.

Only found out when I saw an Apple invoice email last night. Got the money back but the only thing I hate more than capitalists are people who claim to be right-on lefties while rinsing the system for as much money as they can {other than me, obv. I'm allowed to cos I'm me.}

They are skint, give them another couple of years before the plug is pulled

Not one person reads the small print, la.

In fact, the best place to hide, but still disseminate, the world's top secrets is amongst the end user licence agreement for an app.

No. I didn't even ask for the week's free trail. Their begging bits asking me to subscribe to help them beat the right come up at the bottom of every article and I always X it. I never ever asked for this free trail. That's why I said "Apparently" I took a one week trial.

Because I never did. They signed me up for a trial and then for a monthly sub without me ever asking for or agreeing to it.

A scandal worthy of the One Show

Lefties, y'see? Always got their fúcking hands in your pocket. They probably call it 'redistribution', the kleptomaniacal c@nts.

Did you see The One Show bit on some silly bint who wants to get her haircut in a barber and the owner of the barbershop saying she couldn't? Very funny.

Yes, saw that on Twitter. F'ing loon.

She looked genuinely perplexed as to why he wasn't immediately rolling over and offering her a haircut. They're so used to getting their way that it just does not compute when someone just say 'No' to their absurdity.

Yes.

Have you read this, la? Regardless of your feelings about Bercow, it's hard not to enjoy the sheer brutality of it.

I think one more sort of software/website update will be the end of it.

I think there should be a back up plan.

Second good piece I have read on unherd today :yikes:

Loved this line "It is also the story ofhow John Bercow came to be the man he almost is".

Other piece from Simon Evans is https://unherd.com/2020/02/why-mock-jordan-petersons-suffering/?=frbottom

Yes, that was my favourite, too. Although the opening line ran it a close second. :hehe:

I saw the Simon Evans piece. Very good, although you'd like to have hoped that it wouldn't need to be said gloating about someone else's misery (brought about by tragic personal circumstances wholly beyond their control) isn't really a good look.

Fair play, LA. Now worries.

A bit like the Lab party, I'm glad the Graun exists. And the sensible wing of it is where I am politically. But just like the Corbynistas in the party, I couldn't ever do anything to encourage the paper's woke wing, who write articles about why white women with fat arsés are guilty of racist cultural appropriation cos black bints invented it. No way would I subscribe to that.

your session would time out and you wouldn't be able to buy the item/subscription/nonce-porn whatever. When people get into legal battles with online retailers, insurance companies etc, it's the Achilles Heel that would would win you the case every time.

One reason I really hate google is that when Chrome came out, I downloaded it to have a look. 2-3 days later, there was an article on the Beeb website, saying that someone had gone through the 28 pages of terms and conditions and that google would own the copyright to anything uploaded through it.

So we could work on a film for 5 years, and if we uploaded it to Vimeo or Dropbox or Youtube through Chrome, then they would own it.

They're scum. They claimed they'd just copied and pasted it from some other set of terms. The fact their motto is "don't do evil" is really rubbing our noses in it.

At the Simon Evans gig last Friday, about 5 minutes before he was due on stage I tweeted him a photo of the audience (taken from the back of the room) and said "Never seen so many white people in one place. Fascist".

He promptly came on and started the gig by riffing on my tweet for a few minutes :-D

Anyway, more interestingly, as revealed during the gig, he recently found out (through a DNA test) that he's half-Jewish! His real dad was a prolific Jewish sperm doner who fathered over 1,000 children. The upshot of this is that in seconds Simon Evans went from thinking he was an only child to having over 1,000 half-siblings (many of whom he has now connected with in real life).

Mental, huh?

Prob best not to mention anything on Twitter to avoid spoilers.

Yes. He does look quite Jewish, now I think about it.

Also, could you please correct your spelling of 'donor'. Nobody wants to think about a 'sperm doner' - let alone a Jewish one! :-(
