Well you can't just leave it there! You have to tell the horse story.

I was mostly thinking about Sarah Sands and contemplating whether you still would, wouldn't you

Ah, sorry. I went for a walk up Chapman's Lane and encountered a cute little pony wandering down the road. We quickly became firm friends. I took him to a nearby house which has stables to see if he had escaped from there, but there was no one there. I popped him into a paddock for safe keeping and wandered off, asking at the various houses and farms, but the concensus seemed to be 'escaped pikey pony'. Back I went to where I had lodged him, to find a somewhat puzzled lady looking at this interloper who appeared to have the ability to open several gates and let himself in.

Anyway, the poor beast appears to have been abandoned and the glw is determined that we have to take him in...

:hehe: This was inevitable. But how will the cats feel about this? Would you be able to ride around on him? How are his manners?

He is the size of a large dog. A charming fellow though, I must confess.

I am concerned about pikeys knocking on my door demanding their property back. :-(

Well if they do, he hasn't been abandoned. You can say you were simply looking after him and return him with a clear conscience while they scope your house for valuables and inevitably break in the following week.

I have no idea who this person is, but I can say with some confidence that, yes. Yes I would.

What if he got the horse plastic surgery so that it couldn't be identified?

Nice, but you'll have to report it to the police. No question.

You don’t HAVE to. My fiancée’s sister has a horse that had sadly been turned out onto open pasture in The New Forest. He was a nervous boy to begin with but is now a fantastic hacker. He even joined us on the Cranborne Hunt recently. Was absolutely fearless, if a little reckless.

I have reported it to the police, spoken to all the local houses with stables and told the local vet.

No one expressed the slightest interest.

I think I'm in the clear.

Extremely well, ty b. He spends most of his time under the kitchen window, occasionally wickering for me to pass him a carrot.

It's quite the menagerie you're developing. You could open a petting zoo.

It was rather nice this morning to pop the wellies on and go out to deal with chickens and a horsey. Extremely bucolic.

Theold pair are unbelievably freaked. Both sitting at the kitchen window with eyes like saucers and a general 'WHAT THE ****?' demeanour. The fat lad hasn't noticed. But then he was probably of pikey stock as well.

I think it's good to challenge them to extend their friendship circle.

Serious matter though, keeping another's property. Especially a horse, you'd think?

I do like the fact that, while laissez-faire in the matter of inter-human morality, you are extremely stern when it comes to the matter of animal ownership.
