I believe beer is verboten, but I am allowing myself 1 x 330 ml bottle of lager on a Saturday and one on a Sunday IF the temperature is forecast to exceed 25 degrees at any point during the day.

Three. And why would fruit be verboten? Fruit is your friend.

Like I said, this isn't that mad keto stuff. I'm not trying to get shredded for a blockbuster movie, I'm just trying to drop a few pounds.

talking of depressing food, I recently had the misfortune to eat a buckwheat, squash and sweet potato risotto.

it was the food equivalent of watching a Cliff Thorburn mid-fifties break.

This does rather beg the question, 'Why?' I mean, what were you expecting? Herds of majestic wildebeest or the hanging gardens of Babylon?

Oh, it was offered to me in a situation, I couldn't really decline.

Took one for the team. So to speak.

Dennis, it was bland.

I had this with someone who took me out for lunch to a vegan restaurant. :-( Everything was inherently bland and - unforgivably - underseasoned. And I had to order vegan wine by the glass while they drank water. Terrible business.

Make cauliflower rice. Then eat curry with it.

Oh, you can make a sort of cauliflower cheese, but you need to use chickpea flour for the roux.

More positively, celeriac dauphinoise is very nice indeed.

Fillet o Profumo

He told me about this...it’s a fillet o fish but he crushes avocado and smears it the inside of the bun and adds a couple anchovies.

Delish.
