View Full Version : CricketWimb. Yesterday, Roy opened but didn't field. Yet earlier in the CWC, when

fielded first and two went off injured, they weren't allowed to bat below 7 or something.

Have I got this wrong?

It can't be fair that the toss gives you such an advantage.

it doesn't affect whether you can use a replacement or the batting order. Similarly Rahul didn't field for most of the England innings (allowing India's best fielder to come on as a replacement). But as it was ruled an external injury he was allowed to open the batting - not that it did him much good

So you would force Roy to field with an injury sustained while he was batting? That seems fair.

Cheers, la.

1. Then why did we have that game where Woakes came in at 3 or whatever? Our injuries in the field meant one slogger (Morgan??) couldn't bat below 7 while another had to wait a certain number of overs, I think.

2. Can a sub fielder go in the slips or other specialist position? If Root had "picked up an external injury" we might have got Sharma out for 90 less runs.

needs changing.

1 - the injuries were hamstring and back spasm - internal (and pre-existing conditions which also is factor in these things). Depends on the amount of time off the field as well. Anyway, neither Morgan or Roy were fit to bat in that innings. Woakes is a legend :)

It was a fortunate injury, though, r. ;)

An injury is an injury, LA. I hope you're not suggesting that a batsman might exaggerate a new injury in order to rest an existing injury by not having to field?
