View Full Version : It's odd that the people of Peterborough would be happy to elect

Every chance if you looked closely at all elections that some very unsavoury characters have been elected.

the Tory party look like electing someone who is a known liar and gave out a reporters home address to someone who told him he wanted it so he could go round and beat him up.

Trump has a dodgy past as does Hillary clinton, the US seemed happy to elect either of them as they won the right to stand for President.

Of course it is. The postal voting system is an open invitation to it.

They actually had Tariq Mahmood - a convicted vote fraudster - out campaigning for them, ffs.

But it's racist to point out that muslim communities are routinely undermining our electoral process, so no-one will say a word.

Funnily enough, during my only ever visit to Peterborough (for a pre-season friendly with Arsenal about 20 years ago) I was in a cafe before the game and noticed someone had dropped a wad of notes on the floor.

My response to this discovery may explain what the locals (rightfully) have against my type.

I like the way you can casually confess, from the safety of some 20 years after the fact, that you attended a pre-season friendly 75 miles out of London.

That was probably someone's only means of paying his gas bill. Or the bailiffs. Or the loan shark.

People are probably dead/in prison/in care/on the game because of you. :-(

Yes, I saw the cathedral. The rest of it was a bit of a shíthole mind.

I must research a good Indian restaurant. When one overnights on a Thursday en route to 't Lakes one eat Indian food, right? That's just how it is.

It's as good a rule as any - particularly if you can't find an all-you-can-eat chinky.

Tonight, I shall be eating Italian sausages with peppers and onions. FAGGEDABADIT!

Can you not get a bit further up the road? We found another place to breakfast in the post-Little-Chef apocalypse that is the A1. It's a little pub/hotel by 'side of 'road somewhere near Stibbington (though not the legendary diner itself). We sat there in the window seat eating our breakfast and watching cars go by. So romantic!

I think he should go to one of the many former Little Chefs that's now a sex shop. For research purposes, you understand?

We'll be leaving after work on Thursday, so with luck Peterborough can be reached by 8 pm - in time for a nice meal and an early night. Plus, bear in mind that we're generally on the road by 6 am, so we reach Ulverston for lunch by 12, into Booths for supplies, arrive cottage (whose location is described as 'high on a fellside above the Duddon Valley, access only really suitable with a 4x4) for about 3.

This is all planned like a military operation.

I'm interested in your breakfast location. Stibbington, you say?

Peppers can be green. :-(

I deal with this issue by serving it on a grilled slice of ciabatta, thus allowing it to be eaten with a knife and fork. However, should you wish to add another piece of ciabatta and eat it like a sangwidge, what's to stop you? :sneaky:

If you're feeling extra-decadent, you can melt some mozzarella on top.

Here's what I wanna know: why would you spend £1,000+ on a BBQ and *still* need to buy an accessory to aid heat management?

To which 'accessory' do you refer? Your heat deflector plates are an intrinsic part of the device, they are no 'accessory'.

Monty92

I assumed it was one of them things that you angle so it deflects heat to the parts of the grill that would otherwise stay at a lower temperature, so as to ensure even cooking.

But you are telling me it is something different?

Duddon Valley sounds good. We have some work to do around there.

Have you worked out how to get your smoker to a proper temperature yet?

Well, not the offset smoker since my initial mishap. but the main grill, which I’ve used for smoking several times now to great acclaim from my guests.

Maybe I need to shove a £70 sheet of ****ing metal in there, you total mug :hehe:

Kindly try not to be so extremely rude, lest I find it necessary to visit your ends and slap some manners into your head.

And don't think I didn't notice you trying to slip in a reference to 'guests'. Paying people to bear your company for 10 minutes isn't the same as having guests.

Yes. This one was cheap, though (although it didn't seem so at the time given my age and relative impecuniousness), so I thought I looked the dog's nads for the first couple of wears, but after that - no matter how often it was pressed - I looked like I'd fashioned a suit out of potato sacking. :-(

John built me a linen suit. Linen and mohair, actually. The look I asked for was 'ageing páedophile at the bar of the FCC in Phnom Penh waiting to bugger a small child in an opium den'. He achieved this perfectly.
