My wife works there.

Good things:
The Wine Society HQ is worth a visit if you’re a member.
For some reason the retail park is called ‘Roaring Meg’.
Handy for the A1.

Bad things:

Everything else.

I am indeed a member of the Wine society, will have to pop in.

You know you're in trouble when the best pub/bar on Trip Advisor is a Bar 38

Yes Jump in a taxi for 20 minutes and come to Ware for a night out. Or Hertford.
But not Stevenage. :-(

I've got a big night on the piss in Milton Keynes tomorrow. I'll be staying at the stadium hotel. The exciting news is that Take That are performing. 38,000 menopausal divorcees? Bring it.

Haha, we are staying at the Ibis, which according to a lad who works here but lived there for 18 years, is known as the Prostitute Hotel.......

Hertford has some nice pubs - that one on the Folly, especially - The Old Barge. Lovely in the garden if sunny.

That is nice. I prefer The Old Cross Inn, which is a real, old-fashioned drinker’s pub with booths and open fires. The only food they do is pork pies, scotch eggs, crisps and nuts. Proper pub, that.
The Black Horse isn’t bad.
The Woolpack is beautifully situated, but is unfortunately a McMullen’s pub, which means the beer is shíte. :-(

Never been in it, tbh

I was offered what was then basically a YTS scheme by Stevenage Borough back in the late 90s. Would have meant staying in digs and studying for an NVQ. Didn't really appeal to me in the end. I trained with the first team at Stevenage for a while though. All I remember is lots of roundabouts when you drive there.

I remember attending a pre-season match there, many years ago, I believe we won 8-0. Can't for the life of me remember why I went
