No, the reason to watch this clip is because the mask slips. These guys not only want to turn the clock back to some pre-industrial paradigm, they also want to destroy capitalism in the process.

Of course, what Monbiot doesn't mention (and what the slack-jawed cretins applauding in the audience either don't know or don't care about) is that the contraction in global growth he so blithely espouses would not only kill tens of millions of people, it would inevitably hit the world's poorest hardest, since they are the ones currently benefiting from economic growth because that is what is dragging them out of poverty. He knows that, but he sees it as a price worth paying.
