An own goal and two set pieces.

But, and I'm only being generous cos Ozil started:

1. We did get so many corners we were bound to score at least one eventually.

2. Ozil did about half a dozen flicks that, while none worked, were sexy. I don't mind us giving the ball away like that cos if it had worked it would have led to a sexy goal.

At this point I honestly don’t know if you guys are serious or trolling.

There wasn’t anything remotely enjoyable about losing to Forest, Bayern 10-2, Palace 3-0 with Flamini who supposedly wasn’t good enough for us or even drawing 1-1 vs 10 man mamagerless Atletico. Never mind all of the horrific defeats over the past few years.

Don’t get this Wengerball stuff...we haven’t seen that since the Invincible season and we’re talking about someone who made close to £200m off of us down the years...you shouldn’t feel sorry for him. He was well looked after and has no interest of ever getting back into football.

And I’m unsure why people have turned on Unai.

We all knew and accepted this season was about him and the players working together and we wouldn’t see real changes until Year 2 or 3 of his time here.

Not sure why this has changed especially given out injuries and the clear incompetency of some of our players.

Actually think people owe him an apology.

Ozil is fit and duly started last night. Even got the captain’s armband towards the end.

There is clearly no rift between the two and Unai has simply been covering for the lad until he was fully fit.

Very interesting game of football that and we were, despite your protestations, never even close to going out. Over 180 minutes they were only within one goal with us for about 30, for the majority of the tie we were two clear :vsign:

I also enjoyed last night, though. I love it when our centre backs score :oldschool:

Quite incredible statement really given that such flicks are often used as the primary reason many use to criticise Ramsey.

It really is a funny old game.

The only issue of any importance last evening was to win the tie, the performance or quality of football a complete irrelevance. We are through and we await the draw.

Thank you.

I have been consistant on this. Our owner is never gonna give us enough money to compete. So I'd rather play beautiful football even if we lose more games, or we get hamered by 5 or more goals a few times a season.

It gave me pleasure seeing Rambo back heel it into the net after starting that move this year as much as it did when Santi, Olly and Jack walked the ball into the net with one touch flicks.

I'd have a goalie, 2 CHs and a striker. And the rest of the team, full backs and all, should be players like Santi. Like Ozil, Rambo, Cesc, Bobby P, DB10.

If we can have the same-ish number of points but the choice is bland football but no hammerings vs sexy goals but getting stuffed by the big boys, I want the latter.

Does depend how you define early '90s, C.The football we played in '91 was as good as I'd ever seen. And the end of '92, when Merse and Limpar swapped wings and Campbell played up front with Wrighty was just sublime.

Course, GG being the proto-Emery decided he didn't like this and swiftly dropped everyone creative and got Hillier, Selley and Morrow into MF.

Did win us the CWC, though. After being the first team ever to win us the two domestic cups in the same season.

I sort of see what you mean, but Benfica did us at the start of the'91-2 season.

At the end of it, he switched Merse and Limpar's flanks so they'd cut inside onto their stronger foot and had Campbell and Wrighty in peak form.

Bingo.

And that's when we had Rambo and Ozil in the team and the front 5 were being allowed to play wengerball while he tried to sort out the defence.

We were scoring sexy goals but still Mustafying it up at the back. So what does Dick do? Drop the creatives.
