I was harvesting my walnuts, which means taking the green husks off the actual nuts that you buy in the shop. This was the first time I've done this.
Now I remember reading in things like Kipling's Kim about how you could use walnut juice to darken your skin, but had never realised that said juice came from the husks rather than the nuts themselves. The result was that, after de-husking these things for an hour, I realised with horror that my hands were now stained as black as your boot and no amount of scrubbing or lemon juice would make any difference.
Basically, I've been walking around with black hands for a week. Only now is pink starting to predominate again. :-(
Consider yourself warned, AWIMB.
