Burns (Surrey) and Hameed, he looked decent before his injury?

I thought Hameed was felt to have gone wrong?

I see we're persisting with Ali at 3.

Hameed is averaging about 9 this season so no way is he anywhere near the team (just been dropped by Lancs!)

2011 would seem to be the correct answer

 Not a lot out there, that hasn't been tried and failed before

Burns, Gubbins (sorry Berni), Daryl Mitchell (the youngster at 34), Brook at Yorkshire, though he is batting three mostly, Vince as an opener? Really not much at all

I'm slightly irritated that retiring is what it takes for Cook to finally put together a decent knock this series.

That thought had crossed my mind. A proper opener's knock, at that.

I mean, it helps that it's an absolute road, of course, but even so.

Well this appears to have been some pretty effective jinxing.
