Are you doing the Quick Crossword? Have you suffered a brain injury or something?

I should have thought that the answer to both of those questions is perfectly apparent.

tbf, quick crosswords are for the shítter, sc.

Nobody can finish the cryptic one before horrendous pins and needles set in. Anyone who tells you different is a lying ****.

I mean it's one thing to do the retard crossword to fill an idle minute once you've polished off the Cryptic, but to talk about it in public - and admit you've failed! - requires a paucity of shame I simply cannot begin to comprehend.

 the clue should be 'Maybe gain a cell to relate to heavenly figures'.

Or 'Agile clan resort to celestial quality'

Gosh, you must be really, really, really intelligent. You put me to shame and I feel utterly humiliated. Really I do.

Now, tell us all you know about probability theory and we can all have a good laugh at your expense.

Of course I don't do crosswords of any description. They're silly word games really, aren't they?

I think of the brain as a muscle. I prefer to keep it exercised with philosophical thought.

You just don't do them because you know your wife will get involved and complete them in seconds flat.

Probability theory says "The outcome of a random event cannot be determined before it occurs."

But the quantum eraser variation on the double split experiment shows that's bøllocks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6HLjpj4Nt4&t=14s

The first entangled particle know which random path its twin will take before it reaches the first of the two splitters than randomly send it in different directions.

It's fücking mind-blowing.

Ah, the old non-local connectivity chestnut. Information moving freely in time-and-space? Or seemingly disparate events linked through another, invisible dimension. I prefer the latter as a conceptual model, but the first is more spooky and therefore, fun.

I'm **** at crosswords as well. I am not remotely ashamed of it. Some of the dullest, least interesting people I know are brilliant at them.

Magdalen, for God's sake.

No need to get all maudlin about it.

Actually that doesn't really work, but more importantly, how have we got this far in a thread about crosswords without someone pointing to the fact that crossword buffs tend to be pompous, arrogant, aloof, sneering, self-aggrandising and condescending snobs like MORSE?

You make a good point, a. Dear Endeavour did have his faults, and like all great men he was capable of acknowledging them.

You seem to have misspelt 'Burney' there, Ash. :hehe:

And yes, anyone that equates being good at puzzles like crosswords with intellect is probably by definition a bit thick. I've become much better at them just by trying them most days and getting used to them

Which has nothing to do with intellect whatsoever, of course.

Now, now, WES. No need to start stirring up trouble.

I like puzzles tbh. Getting paid to solve puzzles can be even more fun.
