Clearly there were two Uruguayans on the end of the wall trying to interfere with the 'keeper's view, and the Russian fellow cleared them out. :shrug:

The plan was for Russia to play Iran in the next round.
Would’ve pulled it off if Iran had taken that late late chance.

hmmm - the ball is not in play the ball until it is kicked (and clearly moves). Whistle is merely a signal for free kick/corner to be taken

I've been looking at the laws and it's actually quite difficult to find clarification. If it's violent conduct he could still have given him a red card though.

Yep - that can be done regardless. It's bloody risky either way
