View Full Version : It's really quite difficult to say this sort of thing, but is this really worth a VC?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not disputing the chap's gallantry, but there's nothing that screams 'Victoria Cross' to me in this. He came out from cover to throw a grenade and got shot. That's extremely laudable, but surely Victoria Crosses require a bit more than that?

Compare it with this chap, for instance. Fvcker fought off 30 Taliban single-handed and only got the Gallantry Medal. That seems unfair.

Perhaps they didn't think the Gurkha fella meant to do what he did. No Pun intended

I think it's the fact that he put himself in the line of fire only 5m away to make sure the grenade went accurately.

He was signing his own death warrant - they were going to miss him from that range.

In WW1, it would have been an MC, but lower standards now. Just like in the Mutiny - all you had to do was swear at an Indian back then and they gave you a VC. Bit scared of losing the only other worthwhile bit of the empire, see?
