My boiler keeps quitting and I have to walk out into a field to reset it. It was chilly enough this morning in my wellies and dressing gown at -1...

It's never going to be -16. Don't be mental.

That'll be the league game v City called orf then. One inch of snow is all that's needed, I think.

This from a metman:

"If you still think it wont be cold, think again... On Wednesday it will feel more like -10C in the wind, followed by a incredibly cold & frosty night with significant wind chill. Wherever snow lies, expect wind chill to feel as low as -20C."

Reminds me of poor Alex Song trudging home through the snow. :-(

Not this time, p. You'll definitely have snow. The northeast is really going to cop it.

Would it not be prudent for a man of your means to have a man out to look at said boiler especially in the face of this inclement weather.

How much they saying for Manchester and when? I'm down in London on Monday and would like to get back

There's been a man out to look at it every day this week. They have rebuilt the whole thing. The problem appears to be a small leak in a pipe, either under the floorboards or whithin a wall. It doesn't seem the ideal time to start ripping the house apart to find it.

They're not sure how much will reach the west yet, but by Tuesday you'll definitely have snow.

No, maybe not.

Perhaps Herbie could swing by your next weekend. He could fix your pipes and in return you could afford him room and sustenance. You could banter on terrace experiences of the 70s, him clearing all and sundry in front of him, you hid up by the jacks at the back of the North Bank.

So.. it will 'feel' like -10 or -20. Not really the same thing is it.

I mean, I feel as though you are a bit of a **** but it doesn't necessarily mean that you are. :)

Yes, I thought that. It's science gone mad, isn't it.

It always feels colder here than most other places. I can remember walking round Krakow in -12 and thinking it was nowhere near as cold as home. That said, I was ****ing pissed.

 I once had a Slovakian girlfriend who would complain throughout the winter (actually pretty much all the time) that London was "colder" than the temperature would suggest and much colder than her homeland. Living in a similar part of the world I can understand what she means. It's -2 here but doesn't feel "too" cold. She was a right bitch though

Wind chill is something that Britain genuinely excels at, like binge drinking and standing on the correct side of an escalator. I suppose you miss out on these things being abroad (apart from the binge drinking).

Shouting at people to "stand on the right, please" while thundering down the fast lane is one of the more joyous aspects of tube travel. Along with smell of the tunnels, the glazed, dirty steps, and the squeal of the rails as the southbound train approaches Chalk Farm.

Not sure if the provincial sorts get it, though.

To be fair to LAs former ladyfriend
IT does get colder going from Archway to Highgate
Colder still on the way to Muswell Hill Broadway
And as for High Barnet...

THe tube is a wonderful relic of the old britain that is disappearing too quickly. So many of the things that were commonplace in my youth have disappeared- trade unionism, adequate public libraries, speed. It is nice to know that the tube is still somehow creaking along, smelling foul and looking far more dangerous than it actually is. Bravo, TfL.

Now... does anyone know where I can get some speed?

tell the difference

A world of difference between MDMA and amphetamine. One makes you love everybody and the other makes you want to chew your own face off.

I think it is a tragedy that speed got pushed out of the market by bad coke. Now people get a bad nose and asiniffly high for 50 quid instead of being able to get off their ****ing face for a fiver.

Speed, acid and hash were the drug of choice for the skint teenager. How is he supposed to find 50 quid for a gram of coke and 30 or 40 quid for an eighth of skunk?

Ridiculous. Its cheaper to get pissed.

By getting on their bike and nicking people's phones in the street, presumably.

Always a pleasing site at the Festival imo
