It’ll be those tornadoes that pick up fish and dump them imo.
Or they just evolved according to their environment like everything else.

Iceland, sir c
I went into Iceland the other day. I was very distressed by their lack of frozen lobster.

Are lakes really old, in evolutionary terms? And if the fish in lakes evolved independently, in such a closed environment, how come each lake doesn't contain specific species unknown anywhere else?

How do you know they don’t?
In fact, most lakes have been fed by rivers/the sea in the past and only became lakes after geological shifts.

How did Nessie get there? He got trapped in the Ice Age or some such shít when the lake got cut off from the sea, didn’t he? That’s just a scientific FACT.

It is a god job this question was not asked yesterday
I believe not in God but in geographical evolution
If God had dunnit he would have put some loaves in the lakes too

:hehe: I can assure you that the stout, earthy Iceland-going shoppers have little use for lobsters. Nor bran-flakes, as I find every time Ms A needs some more. Only heavily-sugared cereals. (May depend on the size of the branch).
It is good for reasonably-priced orange juice, though and for frozen fishes, and four rich malty ales for six quid. They also do one of those pork rolls with the infinite boiled egg running through it that tastes great right out the packet for a quid. :-)

They can swim upstream into the lakes. It says so on the signs where the River Cocker leaves Crummock Water ISTR.

Might it be Cockermouth?
:hehe: I said Cockermouth.

Have you considered that the fish may have been there BEFORE the lake formed?
You should.
