Because it has to curve round to avoid a pointy apex and trains don't do pointy apexes?

It wasn't like that on the original map though there were some curves.
I would assume as the line continues they avoid putting a straight line as it would come to a point or an angle and might be confusing.

That loop looks too slack
The designer should of extended the line horizontally from Liverpool Street and then given it a small curve down towards Aldgate East at an angle
