Pros: You can eat it with a knife and fork without feeling self-conscious.

Cons: It's a lot of bread and can get soggy.

I like them but not when they are massive.

It has the benefit of bulk, doesn't it? Sometimes a pizza can feel less than satisfying if you have a big hole to fill. (Such as your mum.)

Yes. Also. there's something nice about opening them up and being presented with a load of gooey, stringy cheese, meat and so forth.

Mind you, they can look like the aftermath of a road accident.

Yay if from our local Italian, they do an amazing Calzone.

Nay.

Had one just recently, didn't work for me.

Pizza is such a simple but brilliant concept, 1-2 toppings max. Flipping it over into an Italian pasty is just wrong.

I have wondered whether it would be better if you just tried to pick it up and eat it like a pasty. It would get messy, though. You'd probably get arrested.

Surely too big to pick up?

Well you could pick up one end of it and start gnawing at it like an animal.

Possibly not something to try on a first date, mind.

They are also usually about as hot as the sun in the middle

Also true. Anyway, I like them largely because they are essentially a hot sandwich, which - as Sir C has wisely pointed out - is the basis of so many great meals.

Nay just because they lack the simplicity of a pizza.

And pizza is one of the greatest things to eat in the world, so why bother?

Side note; best pizza I've ever eaten? New York. Worst pizza I've ever had? Verona, Italy. True story.

It's just a pizza folded over.
