Today. Just girding my loins for a long lunch follwed by 7 hours of beer. Oh, there are some fellows on the pitch tossing a pink ball around somewhere too.

Not sure they've thought this through. Drunken enough affairs at the weekends of a normal test, let alone a day/night one!

A muggy, overcast evening under lights in Birmingham - the ball will be hooping round corners imo.

Well it's quite bright and breezy at the moment, although overcast. I think to reach ''muggy'' the temperature will have to jump significantly. May have to break out the Cagoule

Seeing as the white ball does feck all it would make sense that the pinkun does half of feck all.

I don't understand why it's possible to play test cricket with a red ball under lights if there's bad light, but not possible to play with a red ball under lights if it's dark.

The whole thing is a nonsense if you ask me.

Yes. It does allow mediocre umpires to play save by giving everything not out and then leaving it to the technology to correct.

Yes. All the worse when you consider the one that was given to dismiss Bairstow on 99, where the system basically ended up backing up what was in fact a pīss poor decision.

I remember him urinating on a club bouncer from on top of a roof. Is that what one does when depressed?

To be honest, judging by his intake at the beer festival that followed the game, he wasn't so much depressed as a raging píss artist.

So after calling it the "end of session one" many times, Mikey let slip and said "lunch" once. don't suppose it counts though.

From now on, AWIMB, lunch should be known as the "end of session one". :judge:
