I suspect I am in the minority who thinks we should be targeting a central defender this summer.

The suggestion of 40m + Chambers for van Dijk would make sense if it were not us.

Apparently he wants CL football so has ruled us out. Chelsea favourites at £60million.

We could do with a genuinely great one but there aren't any. We are comparatively blessed in having one of the best around (Koscielny) a couple of big strapping Germans and a decent looking young English one.

Whereas in midfield we have a collection of the sick, the lame and the horrible. Midfielder for me.

Don’t be a dick Richard.

Yes he may want CL football but so did Lacazette.

He is desperate to leave Southampton and has more or less burnt his bridges at said club. He is really in little position to rule us out.

We are despite our EL status a massive step up from Southampton and VvD would jump at the chance of joining us, leading us into a bright new future and essentially doubling his wages or something along those lines. What is needed is an aggressive approach to the deal, a take it or leave it offer to force the hand of all parties, no room for third party gazumping. If his agent the solicits the interest of City and/or Chelsea then we **** him off.

City have spent around one quarter of a billion pounds of their defence in the last few weeks. I don't think they'd take him. Chelsea have Cahill, Rudiger and the Spanish lads. Perhaps room for one more there.

Your suggestion that we'd take a 'no dithering' approach to a transfer is so left-field that it's beyond laughable.

I think you will find that SW is saying that is how we SHOULD conduct this transfer, not that we would conduct it like that.

This strong rumour you mentioned seems to a bloke on twitter, which is where you seem to get most of your info from

I'm expecting we will get battered, first seaon of 9 a side and our players are too nice, wait until they meet some of the inner city Leeds teams and they will get a shock

FA have clamped down on that.. from Under 11's upawards they need photo proof of who is playing and that can be checked on the FA website as all players have to prove their age......... that, in theory is how it works

U10 but must be born in 2007.

Most sides have 1-2 players who stand out, even the ****ter teams. Definitely a few ringers played last season all the same.
